5 Easy Italian dishes to make on valentine's day

Writer: Pratiksha kaserwalPratiksha kaserwal

It is that time of the year when it is perfectly acceptable for everyone to be extra expressive of their love. How the death of a saint named Valentine is linked to a capitalist romantic holiday is beyond the scope of this article, but we are always in the scope of discussing food. If you are anything like me, you too would skip a meal at a fancy restaurant and rather express your love by cooking elaborate meals for your loved ones.

However, today we are not doing elaborate meals. We can agree that Italian food, mainly pasta, cheese, bread and wine, is perfect for a romantic dinner, so let's look at 5 super quick Italian dishes that you can put together under 30 minutes, so you spend more time at the table than in the kitchen.

1.Classic spaghetti in marinara sauce, with some crusty bread and vino. All you need is pasta of choice, we prefer spaghetti. Boil it in salted water according to package instructions (2 minutes short of al dente). In a separate pan, add olive oil, veggies of choice, and then add our Summore Marinara sauce which makes the perfect pomodoro base for any Italian dish. Once the sauce is heated, add the boiled pasta and mix it thoroughly. Garnish with some fresh basil leaves and cheese.

2. Creamy pesto pasta with burrata If you prefer herby, creamy flavours more than the classic pomodoro, pick our bestselling basil pesto or sundried tomato pesto. Add the boiled pasta to the pesto, mix thoroughly and top it with a beautiful burrata.

3. A simple and cosy antipasti platter, with bread, cheese, jams, fruits and stuffed cheese peppers. If you like to keep your meals light, sweet and savoury, then a mini charcuterie/cheese board would be perfect to spend a lovely evening. Make a spread consisting of your favourite crackers, cheese, and our winter special jams (rhuberry and mulberry jams).

For pickled cheesy one biters, our stuffed cheese peppers are a perfect addition to your table.

4. Caprese bruschetta For seasoned Italian food devotees, why not make a meal that best represents the colours of Italy and its flavours? This caprese bruschetta just needs a good bread, our handpounded basil pesto, marinated tomatoes and some cheese of choice (bocconcini is perfect here).

5. Pizza bagels with spicy creamy vodka sauce An Italian meal is incomplete without some zza talk. But making pizza gets in the elaborate zone, so we switch it up with some bagels. Cut the bagels into two and spread a spicy creamy vodka sauce made with our Marinara sauce. Top with cheese and veggies of choice, and bake in a preheated oven for 5 minutes at 180degrees Celsius or till the cheese melts and the bread is crispy.
